Thom Trout
Thom
has been riding and training both Hunters and Jumpers since the early 1970's. Thom began his career in three day eventing. In 1975, before his horse was injured, he was on track towards the Montreal Olympics. Since then, Thom has been Director and Partner at Our Farm Inc. in Norristown, PA. There he developed a large clientele competing at a National and International level and helped develop the Our Farm Inc. and Briarwood horse show series that is still successful to this day.
In 1993 Thom was asked to coach the US Equestrian Team in the Central American games in Ponce, Puerto Rico winning both the individual and team silver medals. Shortly thereafter, Thom was the Director and Head Trainer at Essex Equestrian Center for seven years. Thom has now joined NJEC and is excited to be a part of the team. At NJEC Thom is here to successfully meet the needs of any horse and/or rider and has extensive knowledge and experience with hunters, jumpers, and equitation horses. Johanna Faricelli
Johanna
started her early riding career at the age of 9 when she lived in Massachusetts. After only a year of lessons her father, understanding the importance of training and practice, purchased her first horse. The practice paid off as Johanna went on to compete as a junior rider in the Children’s and Junior Hunter divisions in New England. Johanna won yearly end of the year awards and then qualified multiple years for the NEHC Medal, MHC Medal, AHSA Medal, and ASPCA Maclay finals on her horse Silver Spring. Johanna became an accomplished rider under the final tutelage of Fred Hunt, Holly Brewster and Patty Harnois.
Johanna next completed a BS degree in Exercise Physiology and worked as a personal fitness trainer in Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meager and Flom in NYC and Washington, DC. While working in DC her love for horses elevated into her career choice. While living on a farm in Poolesville, Maryland Johanna ran a boarding, training, and show stable. Johanna developed a lesson program, trained green horses over fences, took students to shows, and always made time to go Fox Hunting!
Johanna has also spent time on the show circuit as a braider traveling each winter to Wellington, Fla. She then returned back to NE for the summer circuit going to horse shows such as Hits, Vermont and New York, Lake Placid, Devon, Harrisburg and many more.
In 2005, Johanna married and presently resides in New Jersey. She worked as a Senior Trainer at the Bergen Equestrian Center in Leonia NJ, teaching all levels of students Hunter Seat Equitation, and assisting the Riding Director at Shows. Johanna has recently participated in the highly acclaimed Nick Karazissis Clinics. With the closing of the BEC, Johanna chose to relocate to the well equipped, and expansive NJEC facility. Johanna is an avid rider, horse lover, and competitor.
Johanna takes delight in assisting riders of all ages and levels in accomplishing their goals for showing or for fun. She is also persistent about safety, furthering her understanding of the horse and sharing her knowledge with students. Her philosophy is that “everyone will learn something new every day.” She enthusiastically professes to teach anyone who wants to learn!

Chelsea Palmer - Eventing & Dressage Trainer
Chelsea started riding at age three, when her mother passed along her love of horses to Chelsea. Chelsea rode in weekly lessons for many years until she was old enough to begin working at the barn, where she started to do turnout for 70+ horses every Saturday morning. Chelsea’s first horse was a young fiery red headed mare off the track that nobody would ride. Under the guidance of Sally Hinkle-Russell a Grand Prix jumper rider in Connecticut, the horse and Chelsea became successful in eventing and jumpers. From this little mare, Chelsea fell in love with off the track thoroughbreds (OTTB) and her talent for green and “crazy” horses was found (and continues to this day!). Chelsea was an active member of the US Pony Club, attending the show jumping championships in Kentucky and placing 3rd! It was through Pony Club that Chelsea found her love for eventing. Chelsea spent a summer in the mountains of Vermont at Vershire Riding School, training twice a day and riding in some of the top Area I events. During and after college, Chelsea worked for a number of years on Wall Street, in the Mergers and Acquisitions industry, financial advisory role and the Currency Trading Market. She was very successful, however, decided to follow her dream of becoming a professional rider and trainer.
Sally Hinkle gave Chelsea her first job teaching riding lessons at her farm, Mystic Valley Hunt Club, to children and adults. Being apart of a large lesson program gave
Chelsea the opportunity to instruct all different types of people and learn to teach with different styles. Under Sally and other mentor’s guidance Chelsea’s passion for the training and riding of the “ultimate” athlete was solidified and she has spent to date her riding time and horse education focused on training and caring for the competitive event horse.
Chelsea is very excited to join the NJEC team and to be the first to bring Eventing training into a top facility so close to NYC.

Stephanie Romans
Stephanie started riding at the age of seven in her hometown of Allendale N.J. helping with a locally owned and operated summer camp and lesson program. As her interest in horses evolved Stephanie worked in every aspect of the industry. From working at local barns and helping anyone who would give her a chance to ride and learn anything there was to understand about horses she continued to enhance her knowledge and abilities. During this time, she learned how to ride, train, care for, as well as prepare and present horses for sale.
After high school Stephanie went on to Fordham College where she attended classes for two years before transferring to Ithaca College. There Stephanie rode on the intercollegiate team at Ithaca and also rode horses at nearby Cornell University.
At the age of 21, Stephanie began managing one of the highest end show stables with horses second to none in price and prestige. For four years Stephanie provided riding, coaching, training, and horse care and stable management. She then chose to accept a job continuing the evolution of her career by going to Wellington, FL to work with Thom Trout. There she spent the winter riding, showing, and coaching with Thom and successfully overseeing the day to day management of their whole operation.
Stephanie continues riding, training and showing with world class horses and riders everyday at North Jersey Equestrian Center, the east coasts’ finest state of the art facility. Stephanie is thrilled to be a part of NJEC and is continuing her dream of producing winners.

Karl Bauer - Owner & Head Western Trainer
Karl Bauer wrote in his high school yearbook that he would own the largest equestrian complex in New Jersey by the time he was 40. Pretty tall goal for a high school senior. But on Jan. 28, 2001, Bauer turned 40, and in July 2001, North Jersey Equestrian Center in Pompton Plains opened for business after years of planning. And yes, it is owned by Karl Bauer, and yes, it is the largest equestrian complex in the state. Bauer, who has a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science from Delaware Valley College, Doylestown, PA, began showing horses at 4-H shows and open competitions when he was 9. Five years later he began taking lessons from Robert Standish, USET's executive director. In 1973, he began training and showing horses for Standish as well as his own at AQHA events.
Bauer has since bred, trained and shown American Quarter Horses, many of them ROM, national and world champions as well as Superior Horse Achievement earners.
He specializes in youth and amateur riders that show western pleasure, hunter under saddle, equitation, horsemanship and showmanship at the local, state, national and world levels.
Past President of the New Jersey Quarter Horse Association, he has been an AQHA national affiliate since 1997, and was seated on the NJQHA Board of Directors for six years. He is a member of the AQHA Professional Horseman's Association, Breeders Referral Program and the National Snaffle Bit Association. His talent and experience have earned him numerous awards, including the 1998-99 NJQHA Breeder of the Year.
In addition, he has two back-to-back world championships in Mounted Shooting under his belt in 2006 and 2007.
